OVERVIEW

ABC Recycling is looking for a Management Associate, to be based out of one of our Vancouver Island locations. This is a developmental management training role designed to give hands-on and comprehensive exposure to all facets of the metals recycling industry, with Western Canada’s leading scrap metal processor. The successful candidate will work under the mentorship of a senior manager for 2-3 years and then be placed in a supervisory role at one of its locations upon conclusion.

RESPONSIBILITIES

- Provide excellent customer service, creating positive relationships using Business Development methods
- Participate in specialized training methods for processing non-ferrous commodities
- Conduct commodity inspections ensuring pricing structures are correct
- Participate in a period of heavy equipment training
- Conduct weekly reconciliation of materials purchased, sold/shipped and inventory on hand
- Ensure accounting processes, cycles and reconciliation are completed on a timely basis
- Ensure commodity purchasing rates and practices are up to date for the yard
- Liaise with corporate departments about matters related to their function
- Additional duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

- Completion of (or on pace to) a degree or diploma in Business or equivalent work experience
- Valid driver’s license with no limitations or restrictions
- Work experience in a heavy industrial work environment, especially as a labourer or tradesperson
- Previous work experience with heavy equipment is an asset
- Entrepreneurial make-up and approach to work
- Able to prioritize and multi-task work items and communicate properly if timing is not aligned
- Proven customer service skills
- Driven and confident personality, but also open to learning from others
- Advanced skills with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, PowerPoint and Word
- Experienced with data entry and management in to enterprise software systems is an asset
- Mobility for this role is required. Extended periods of travel to other ABC locations are expected.

WORK CONDITIONS

This role will require significant work outdoors and using your hands. Attention to detail and a focus on safety are constantly required.
