Hours: 3 weeks F/T (30-40 hrs. per week), then full break for 3 weeks
Pay: 15$/hr + tips
Starting Date: April 1
Position Description
Main Duties: Drinks and soups preparation, dishes, housekeeping (spa laundry and maintaining cleanness of the Spa building), kitchen cleaning and assist chef with meals preparation.
Other small tasks may include setting up/ turning on infrared saunas, turning on daily health video and preparation of grass juice for topical green treatments.
Note: Duties may slightly change overtime.
Location: Fresh Start Health Retreat and Spa, Oyster Bay (located on South Island Hwy between Campbell River and Courtenay)
Hours:
10-hr. shifts with 1 hr. break 3-4 days per week during the retreats (we operate on 3 weeks on 3 weeks off schedule).
Shift hours will vary, depending on the need: ranging from 7:00 am-6:00 pm to 8:30 a.m.-7:30 p.m. You will need to be working on a rotating schedule with another person and be available on weekends.

Approximate Total Hours per program: 110 during 3-week program (occasionally we have 2-week ones).

There is a beautiful walking trail nearby, where you can walk during your one-hour break. The building is newly renovated, very simple and natural, with mostly laminate floors. Because we use vegetarian and mostly raw ingredients, work in our kitchen is very pleasant.
Additionally, as our team member, you will have access to our amazing health spa treatments at a cost, as well as will be able to use the Ocean Resort gym during our retreats at no cost.

Our Intake Process:
1. Application: Please apply on our company site job board https://www.healthretreat.ca/fresh-start-jobs/ It includes a resume and a simple questionnaire, and takes about 20 min.
2. 15-min Pre-Screen interview: If you meet our core requirements, we'll contact you over the phone.
3. In-person Interview
4. References Check and a Criminal Record Check: You'll be asked to: provide the original criminal record from the local RCMP.
Note: The Hiring Process may slightly change, depending on the needs. You also may be asked some additional information as filling out a questionnaire or to come for an additional interview in person.
Qualifications & Experience:
Certificates Required
• Food Safe (if absent, must provide within 3 months of employment at his/ her own cost)
• First Aid Level I – or must be acquired at own cost within 3 months of employment, as well must be maintained current
Must Haves
• Experience in housekeeping and/ or work in the kitchen in a commercial setting
• Some food preparation experience, feel confident in independent food preparation for groups of 10-15
• Valid driver’s license and own transportation

• Can lift up to 50 lbs (needs to be able to carry cases with apples, oranges, compost pails etc.)
