This is a full-time permanent position starting immediately.
As a Management Systems and Certification Specialist, you will be developing, implementing and maintaining management systems for the resource sector (forestry, solid wood manufacturing, mining, energy). These management systems are designed to be compliant with such standards as the Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC®), ISO 14001, Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI®), Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFCTM) and SAFE Company.
You may also assist in contract administration and field inspections for conformance with Environmental Management, Safety and Chain of Custody Systems.
As a member of the small Zimmfor team you are a self-motivated individual who is a strategic thinker, are detail oriented and comfortable working independently within a flexible work hour environment.
You will work closely with both major and small forest tenure holders, First Nations, the solid wood manufacturing sector, and potentially with mining and exploration clients.
The position is based in Campbell River, BC, Canada. Regular travel will be required within North America and potentially overseas (a valid passport is required).
Qualifications & Experience:
Candidates must meet the following minimum criteria:
• have a minimum of five years experience in the resource (forestry, mining, etc.) or manufacturing sectors and familiarity with government policies and regulations
• have excellent computer skills (MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint)
• have excellent communication skills (verbal, written and interpersonal)
Preference will be given to those applicants with the following qualifications:
• eligible for a resource based professional designation or qualified as a Professional Forester (RPF), Registered Forest Technician (RFT) or Professional Engineer in good standing
Additional assets include:
• working knowledge of the resource focused third-party certification standards (e.g., FSC, ISO, SFI, PEFC)
• experience in performing environmental, safety, chain of custody and sustainable forest management audits (compliance or Standard conformance)
• international resource management experience (South America, Asia, Africa)
• multi-lingual (Spanish, Portuguese, Mandarin, etc.)
