Court Services Branch is responsible for the delivery of all court administration services in British Columbia. These consist of registry and trial support for the Provincial Court, Supreme Court and Court of Appeal, and the provision and maintenance of courthouse facilities. The Branch is responsible for supporting timely and equitable access to the court system. As a servant of the court, it is responsible for providing administrative services to the judiciary. Court Administrators throughout the Branch fulfil this mandate in a manner that is respectful of an independent judiciary.
The Administrator, Registry Operations is responsible for planning, organizing and managing the civil, criminal and in-court programs including technological initiatives such as video conferencing; providing leadership and direction to staff; ensuring technical procedures are carried out in accordance with legislation and Court Services policies and procedures; providing service to the legal profession, court related agencies and general public on matters related to civil, criminal and in-court court process; and making independent decisions as Justice of the Peace.
An effective supervisor, you serve as a positive role model for your team, promoting a collaborative and productive work environment and ensuring timely service delivery. You are customer service-oriented and exhibit a high degree of tact, diplomacy and discretion when dealing with stakeholders, other government staff and the public.
Qualifications for this role include:
•Secondary school graduation or equivalent.
•Must have or be able to qualify for an appointment as a Justice of the Peace in the Province of British Columbia within 6 months of the appointment.
•At least 1 year of recent experience with Court or Legal Administration
•Prefer recent supervisory experience.
•Must have experience using computers and software programs (e.g. Windows, Word, and Excel).
