Summary:
Huckleberry House Children’s Centre is a provincially licensed childcare centre that operates under the umbrella of North Island Community Services.
The centre, which operates out of Cheslakees Elementary School, offers infant and toddler care, daycare, before and after school programming, as well as preschool.
The Port McNeill Strong Start Program also operates from Cheslakees Early Learning Centre.

Our childcare programs has been designed to provide a fun, safe and child-centered learning environment for young children. The philosophy of Huckleberry House is that children learn through play and that children need to be loved, supported and encouraged.
We recognize that parents play the most important role in their child’s life and that they deserve the assurance of knowing that their children are in a safe and nurturing environment,
that also values the training, skill and commitment of its Early Childhood Educators.

Wage: $15.43-$19.43 Depending on Experience and Qualifications.

Qualifications & Experience: 
Know how to have fun and enjoy working with children ages 0-12, by organizing activities designed to help children learn about their world and develop their own interests
Exude a warm and approachable nature, with the ability to develop trust-based relationships with children and their parents/caregivers
Have the ability to adapt and be flexible to meet the needs of the children and the childcare centre
Monitor children during outdoor activities and provide a safe learning environment
Work as part of a team to develop and support programming and maintain schedules, as well as maintain records relating to childcare
Promote age-appropriate learning that fosters social, emotional, physical and cognitive development
Work with parents and supported childcare or other community service providers to help children progress towards educational and behavioral goals
Essential Qualifications:
Early Childhood Education (ECE) Certification
Approved Ministry of Justice Criminal Records Check
Level 1 First Aid w/CPR (or willing to obtain prior to start date)
