Details:
We are looking for a Manager for our Ocean Falls facility who is ready to take on the next challenge in their aquaculture career. Reporting to the Freshwater Director, the Manager will be responsible for ensuring consistent and efficient production of excellent quality salmon smolt and managing projects while maintaining a safe and environmentally sustainable work environment.
Responsibilities:
• Managing daily operations at the facility.
• Ensuring the safety of all staff and contractors on site.
• Developing production goals and targets and delivering results on time and on budget.
• Troubleshooting and solving operational problems as they arise.
• Meeting or exceeding expectations in size, quality, and timing of smolt.
• Effectively managing, developing, training and coaching employees.
• Initiating and developing solutions for lowering costs and improving product quality.
Salary: $70,000 - $100,000 CAD
Closing Date: November 27, 2023
We offer a competitive compensation and benefits package, with starting salary based on qualifications and experience. This is a camp-based (4:3) position, involving fly-in/fly-out transportation to Ocean Falls.

• Experience managing a freshwater hatchery preferred or equivalent level of experience in the broader aquaculture sector.
• Demonstrated skills and experience in providing leadership to a team of staff and supporting all aspects of personnel management.
• Good critical thinking abilities, decision-making abilities, and sound judgement.
• Highly organized, able to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines for production.
• Good communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills (i.e. approachable, empathetic) including the ability to develop effective relationships and successfully resolve conflict situations.
• Computer skills (e.g. Aquafarmer, word processing, spreadsheets & databases).
• Highly motivated, positive outlook and positive attitude towards work.
