The Job Seeker's Café is a series of 4 highly engaging, virtual 2 hour sessions where we will explore a range of topics relevant to North Island Job Seekers.
Sessions will be held online Tuesday's from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm beginning on November 9, and then the 16, 23, and 30th of November. Each session will include an update on local labour market conditions and an opportunity to share hot job leads amongst the group.
In week one we will provide an orientation to NIEFS and an overview of the many services and supports available to British Columbian Job Seekers through Work BC.
In week 2 we explore effective strategies for self marketing including targeted resumes and cover letters, references, writing for maximum impact, developing strategic content, and where/how to get help with these pieces.
In week 3 we look at the realities of job search in challenging times. We will talk about what has changed, what the implications are, digital skills, online job boards, virtual interviews, and working from home.
In the final session, we focus our time on how to approach employers. We will look at the hidden job market, networking, informational interviews and using social media as a tool job search.
We recognize your experience and value your input. Guests of the virtual Job Seeker's Café are encouraged to share insights, experiences, job leads, and tips/strategies with others throughout the series!

Qualifications & Experience:
Open to all North Island Job Seekers who have a digital device and access to a stable internet connection.
Webcams on devices are optional but speakers and a mic are needed in order to participate.
