Maintenance Mechanic / Millwright
For over thirty years Noboco Styro Containers Ltd has been a leading manufacturer of Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) Styro Packaging for the seafood industry based in Campbell River BC.
We would like you to consider an opening to join our maintenance team.

Our employees work with highly specialized equipment built to manufacture and package an industry specific Styro box.
Wages and benefits:
Starting wages are $29.08 with a raise at 600 hours to $30.11 and third raise at 1200 hours to $31.17 per hour. In addition, Shift differential is also offered at $0.50 per hour for afternoon shift and $ 1.50 per hour for Graveyards.
Power Engineering Premiums also paid at either 3rd Class or higher Power Engineering $ 1.50 per hour worked or 4th Class Power Engineering $0.75 per hour worked.
A yearly RRSP contribution of 9.5% of the employee’s annual gross wages is also included. Chargehand rate of 10% of regular rate also may apply.
Employees are classified either as full time with typically 40 hours of work offered per week.
Medical, Dental and Extended health benefits are offered after serving the required waiting period of the service provider.
All employees will receive training for their positions and there is advancement opportunity to supervisor positions.
Hours of work:
Typically scheduled for dayshift, possibility of shift work if required (alternating 2 weeks on dayshift, then 2 weeks on afternoons). Some week end work will be required along with on call availability.
Responsibilities:
• Maintain, troubleshoot and repair of all equipment, tooling and facilities.
• Ability to safety operate a forklift (training provided).
• Provide technical support to the Plant Manager and Charge Hands assisting them in troubleshooting production problems.
• Co-ordinate, further develop and implement the PM program (Preventative Maintenance).
• Responsible to follow all company policies and procedures including WorkSafeBC safety programs.
• Complete in house training to have knowledge of the operation of the process involved in manufacturing EPS products.
• Fulfill duties as required by the Environmental and Quality Management System
• Operate and instruct others to safely operate equipment in an efficient manner.
• Fulfill duties of the Job Description (attached).
Qualifications & Experience:
Millwright BCTQ or Red Seal
Qualifications:
• Qualifications as a certified Millwright as recognized in the province of British Columbia.
• 4th class or higher Power Engineering Certificate valid in BC is preferred.
• Fluent in the English language – able to understand, speak, read and write English.
• Grade 12 or equivalent.
• Electrical / PLC troubleshooting experience an asset.
• Maintain steady pace of physical work that requires agility, coordination as required.
• Ability to pass in house skills testing, reference checks and interview.
• Basic math.
• A level of physical fitness that allows the successful candidate to safety work in a production environment on their feet for most of the day handling loads ranging for 5 Kgs to 20 Kgs.
• A level of personal hygiene for working in the food packaging industry.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and safety follow the workplace instructions.
• OFA Level 1 (8 hour) First aid and Forklift certification (training provided).
