Details:
K’awat’si Shellfish Company operates a shellfish aquaculture farm in the traditional territory of the Gwa’sala-’Nakwaxda’xw Nation.
The farm is a remote licensed as a deep-water tenure, and cultivating both Pacific scallops and Pacific oysters.
The farm has been operating for 3+ years but is looking to expand and grow its production.
Good communication, strong leadership, strong work ethic and physical ability - are key skills to succeed in this position
This is a camp position based out of Port Hardy. The camp schedule is 8 days on, 6 days off (sometimes 9 days on, 5 days off) but can be variable and subject to weather and growing seasons.
The manager will supervise a crew of 2-4 individuals, and will work closely with a senior manager towards setting and meeting production targets for long-term profitability and success.
We are seeking an individual who has work experience and competencies in small machinery, small vessel operations and transport, and work safety and operating procedures in remote settings.
The position is physically demanding, and the ideal candidate will be fit and capable of lifting 40 lbs.
The manager should understand the operations of a shellfish farm and the biological requirements of rearing shellfish in a marine environment.
In addition to the physicality of the job, the right candidate must be able to read and interpret documents following the management regulations of the industry.
Knowledge of licensing would be considered an asset.

Qualifications & Experience:
Driver’s license
Level 1 First Aid and Transport Endorsement
Small Vessel Operator Proficiency (SVOP), Marine Emergency Duties (SDV/MED A3), Radio Operator (ROCM)
Good physical fitness and capable of lifting 40 lbs
