Position Overview:
The Senior Accountant will be responsible for providing support to the Controller and finance team by performing month end close procedures and related financial analysis to support working paper files for accounts receivable and payable, including payroll, accruals, GST and PST. In addition to the month end closing procedures, the individual will be responsible for detailed inventory production management, contract management and invoicing. Reporting to the Controller, the ideal candidate is detail orientated with an ability to perform financial analysis and has a self-motivated to work to a high quality. Preferably the candidate has an accounting designation or intends to enroll in the CPA professional education program. Qualifications & Experience:
Responsibilities:
• Support month-end and year-end close process.
• Prepare financial analysis on month end balances to determine accuracy
and reasonability of general ledger and trial balances, including related
financial reports.
• Responsible for full cycle accounting for inventory production
management, including assisting with production logistics as required.
• Responsible for contract management.
• Prepare invoices and follow up on customer accounts.
• Prepare bank reconciliations. Process deposits and enter bank
transactions.
• Prepare required sales tax returns and work safe returns, including related
reconciliations.
• Support, and have a good understanding of, forecasting analysis.
• Identify improvements, make recommendations and promote ideas.
Skills and Experience:
• CPA qualified or enrolled in the CPA program.
• Motivated team player.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook).
• Previous accounting experience.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to show initiative.
