Mowi is currently seeking an individual to join our team as the Maintenance Manager at our Port Hardy Processing Plant, on beautiful Northern Vancouver Island.
This facility is the most technically advanced fresh salmon processor in British Columbia.
Reporting to the Director of Processing, the incumbent will coordinate and manage the maintenance of the production and building facility.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Be a safety leader and work as a member of the joint health & safety committee. Actively manage the task list generated from monthly safety meetings and continuously drive safety improvements.
• Manage a team of 5 millwrights (one of them a lead hand), 2 electricians, 1 warehouseman, and 2 wastewater treatment operators.
• Work cohesively with the QMP Manager to create and execute regular equipment dismantling and cleaning schedules. Observations and inspection of equipment to identify and implement hygienic design improvements.
• Work cohesively with the Production Manager and Supervisors to maintain a high level of equipment center uptime. Observations of processing equipment centers to assist the team in identifying design and efficiency gains.
• Management of a substantial, monthly R&M budget and ability to work with the Office Manager for month end costing and reporting purposes.
• Work with Processing Director regarding all long- and short-term projects. Planning and safe execution of processing plant project work and delivering within the given budgetary constraints.
• Completion of daily managerial tasks (employee time approvals, vacation allotment and scheduling, purchasing approvals and accounts management, quotation processes, toolbox discussion’s, management of crew safety matrix).
• Management of CMMS, PM program (Bigfoot).
• Oversee the operation and maintenance of a very technical wastewater plant.
• Actively assist in the management of all processes and facilities at PHPP. Assist in daily plant start-ups and liaise with employees and contractors to resolve operational and maintenance issues in a safe and timely fashion.
• Oversee training of maintenance employees (journey persons and apprentices). Recognition and scheduling of technical in-house training for maintenance employees.
Qualifications & Experience:
QUALIFICATIONS:
• “Red Seal” certified in a relevant trade.
• Minimum of 5 years maintenance management/supervisory experience.
• Working knowledge of PLC’s a definite asset.
• Ability to develop and manage a preventative maintenance program.
• Familiarity with automated process/packaging technology a definite asset.
• Experience working in a computerized preventative maintenance program, a definite asset.
• Must be a demonstrated decision-maker who easily interacts with others and is adept at leading and motivating a team.
• Must have excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills.
• Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel and email.
• Flexibility is a must.
